The study of computer engineering

Since I was young, I've always had a thing for figuring out how things work and what can I do to make them work optimally. I am decent in math, very good in algebra, and love science, physics, and biology. I have always been attracted to computers. I've built several optimal computers but it never seems enough. I mean, building computers from parts made by different companies with certain limits, I want to be able to optimize every aspect of the computer, whether the graphics card, cpu, ram or chipset. I believe I have what it takes to become an engineer.
